Professor Paul O’Flynn FRCS, is a Consultant ENT/Head and Neck Surgeon at London’s University College Hospital. After qualifying in 1982, he trained in London and Nottingham.
He was appointed Consultant ENT surgeon at The Royal National Throat, Nose and Ear Hospital in 1993. He is an Honorary Consultant at The National Hospital for Neurology & Neurosurgery, Queens Square and Honorary Senior Lecturer, University College London.
Since 2005 he has been ENT Head and Neck lead At UCH, Chair of the Head and Neck Multi-Disciplinary Team and Chair of the North London Cancer Network, Head & Neck tumour board.
He is Honorary Professor at the Deenanath Mangeskhar Hospital and Research Centre, Pune, India.
In 2012 he was elected to the Council of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. He is the RCS Council lead for surgical commissioning and has an interest in QA, standards, examinations and International Affairs.
He is an Intercollegiate examiner for the FRCS examination and a Board member responsible for the Head and Neck question bank.
He was 2013-14 President of the Laryngology and Rhinology section at the Royal Society of Medicine.
Paul’s main interests are head and neck surgery, particularly laryngeal and parotid surgery and airway management. He has had a longterm association with the Neuro-rehabillitation unit and the Intensive care service at the Wellington Hospital where he also consults and operates. He is a member of the medical advisory committee.
His non-medical interests are tennis and middle distance running.
